Castleford scrum-half Luke Gale is poised to make his England debut against France in Avignon on Saturday. The 28-year-old former London Broncos and Bradford half-back was one of five members of Steve McNamaras 24-man squad not to get a game in the 2015 Test series against New Zealand or the one-off match with the French that preceded it.However, he has been retained by McNamaras successor Wayne Bennett for the Four Nations Series and looks certain to win his first cap in Avignon after Bennett announced his intention to give run-outs to players who have been inactive for a month or more. They include Gale, whose last match for his club was in the last round of the Super League Super 8s on September 25.In terms of Avignon, I need to get players playing that havent played for five or six weeks, Bennett said. I dont want to throw them into the game against New Zealand cold.My priority is to get those guys a game and I can give the guys who have played more recently a week off. Theres no need to force people to play.It is six weeks since Sam Burgess was last in action but his return will have to be put on hold due to a one-match ban he picked up for a tripping offence in South Sydneys last match of the season on September 2. Sam Burgess is banned for the game against France Burgess twin brothers Tom and George are set to get their first run-outs since then, while NRL-based colleagues Mike Cooper, Gareth Widdop and James Graham are also set to face the French after arriving in England this week and going into camp with the Super League players on Saturday.Widnes captain Kevin Brown, Huddersfield winger Jermaine McGillvary and Leeds trio Ryan Hall, Kallum Watkins and Brett Ferres are other players in need of game time, while Bennett must decide whether to pick Canberra duo Josh Hodgson and Elliott Whitehead, whose side reached the NRL semi-finals, and which men to pick from beaten Super League semi-finalists Hull and St Helens.Because of Burgess suspension, Bennett will have to call on at least a couple of the seven-strong contingent from Grand Finalists Wigan and Warrington to compile a 19-strong squad for the France game. Watch NOW TV Watch Sky Sports for just £6.99. No contract. The England squad travelled from Leeds to London on Saturday to set up camp ahead of the French game. They will train this week at the Honourable Artillery Company ground in the city before flying out from Stansted on a chartered plane on the day of the game. They will return after the match at Parc des Sports to Leeds/Bradford Airport and base themselves in Leeds in the build-up to their opening Four Nations clash with New Zealand at Huddersfield on October 29. . The same cant be said of last Saturdays 2-2 draw at Olympic Stadium against a very weakened New York Red Bulls side and one which had three stalwarts in Henry, Cahill and Olave back home in Harrison, NJ.LONDON -- Carl Froch knocked out British rival George Groves in the eighth round to retain his WBA and IBF super-middleweight titles in a rematch in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley Stadium on Saturday. Froch floored Groves with a huge right hook with about 30 seconds remaining in the round, with the referee immediately stopping one of most hyped fights in the countrys boxing history. He improved to 33-2, with 24 knockouts. "This is the greatest moment of my boxing career," Froch said. "Its the biggest event Ive been involved in." Groves (19-2, 15 KOs) had started slower but grew into the fight, only to be knocked down with Frochs biggest punch of the bout. "I feel like I let myself down," said Groves, who had vowed to send Froch into retirement with a victory. "Fair play, he got me with the punch." The rematch was ordered by the IBF after Frochs win in a controversial first fight in Manchester in November, when the referee stepped in too soon with Groves wobbling on his feet. This time, there were no complaints from Groves, who required treatment in his corner before going to congratulate Froch -- showing the bad blood between the pair that had dominated the build-up was over.dddddddddddd The rematch was not as exciting as the first fight, with both boxers more restrained and seemingly intent on lasting the full distance. Froch -- arguably Britains top boxer for the last five years -- dominated the centre of the ring but only first connected with a left hand in the third round that rocked back Groves. Frochs punches were generally ragged and he walked into some punches by Groves in the sixth and seventh rounds. The ending was conclusive, though, with Froch swinging initially with his left and following it up with a massive right that left Groves in a heap on the canvas. "It was neck and neck, there was nothing in it," said Froch, who wants to crown his career with a fight in Las Vegas. "One punch was all the difference." The fight captured the public imagination, and was considered the biggest grudge match in British boxing since the days of the Nigel Benn-Chris Eubank rivalry in the early 1990s. ' ' '
